Choosing a face painter
Common sense applies really but in my opinion, proof of ability and talent speaks volumes. Any good artist should be pleased (not to mention eager) to show you their work and skills in the form of some sort of portfolio, photo album or similar.
The only other great thing to look for is genuine and honest opinions / references / recommendations from previous happy (or otherwise) clients. Word of mouth is such a social field as Face painting is the best form of advertising. If you send thirty happy kids on their way with a truly great face design and a BIG smile, their parents are likely going to remember where they had it done and who by.
All responsible and serious face painters will have Public Liability Insurance. This is for everybodies benefit.
If you are not happy with the quality / ability of a face painters work (or they cannot persuade you that they are adequately skilled), then ask yourself if you want to risk it. They may have a truly genuine reason for not being able to convince you that they are a worthwhile artists but it's your money, your event and your choice!
